Many people tend to treat an energy drink as a magic potion. However, it turns out that its action can be devastating. So it is worth asking ourselves whether it is really worth to reach for it. Of course, when we need energy and take a can of the drink, we almost immediately feel the surge of strength, but it is worth considering what their strength is, and above all, why doctors and nutritionists so often warn us against the desire to use it.

A helpful biofuel

Our body draws energy mainly by burning proteins, fats and carbohydrates. The latter are found, among others, in energy drinks, but it turns out that they do not have such a strong impact on us. We are encouraged by other compounds found in such drinks. Most often it is caffeine, guarana, taurine and B vitamins, but L-carnitine is also helpful. The activation properties of caffeine do not need to be mentioned much, as they are well known, while taurine is an amino acid that allows the body to regenerate quickly, guarana has a stimulating effect, L-carnitine improves our mood, and B vitamins have a beneficial effect on our nervous system. However, although it may seem like a really good combination, the reality is much more brutal.

Excessive power surge

When they were created, energy drinks were created primarily for overworked people and crisis situations when we are very tired and at the same time have no chance to relax. However, many people give up their lifestyle and reach for energy just as they do for any other drink. Unfortunately, although energy appears quickly, it is able to escape as quickly. Then we also feel like having another drink.

How does an energy manager work?

When we reach for an energy drink, we provide our body with ingredients that affect both our nervous and cardiovascular systems. So we fund it not only with stimulants, but also an excessive amount of B vitamins. The consequence of this is increasing irritability, insomnia, nausea, diarrhea, depression, hand trembling, a tendency to mental disorders, palpitations, an increased risk of heart attack, diabetes and stroke, and even death when we combine energy and alcohol or struggle with heart defects.

Who should avoid energy men?

Energy drinks should be forgotten not only by pregnant women but also by those who are breastfeeding. It is also worth avoiding them when struggling with hypertension, circulatory system disorders, diabetes, stomach ulcers and liver diseases. They are also not recommended when dealing with children and adolescents under 16 years of age. When we analyze possible side effects, we can easily see that we are not dealing with unfounded restrictions. So if there is a teenager in our home, it is worthwhile to take a special look at what he or she drinks. Energetics are able to induce aggressive behaviours, which is especially noticeable in case of children and teenagers, because their body does not cope well with stimulants in such large doses.

Energy and lifestyle

When we talk about drinking energy drinks, we have to be aware that this is only an emergency therapy. In the long run, it brings far more losses than profits. So if we think this is the best way to deal with the session, we have to reckon with a really big disappointment. So it is worth considering whether postponing the learning process to the last moment is the best solution.
