When we talk about the use of cannabis in medicine, we need to be aware that this is not a new issue, as cannabis has been known for nearly five thousand years.

Chinese medicine has had most experience with it, but it's not the only one that's interested in it. Interestingly, one of the theories about the 'black death' epidemic from the fourteenth century says that it would also take its bloody toll in Poland. This did not happen, among other things, thanks to hemp, which at that time was very popular, especially among the poorer sections of society.

As early as the 1940s, almost eighty percent of the drugs we had to deal with on the American market were produced using cannabis. Even then, it was thought that they could be helpful for up to a hundred different diseases. In 1937 the decision was taken to ban cannabis and regulations of this kind came into force almost all over the world.

This decision was primarily motivated by their psychoactive effect and at one point all medical aspects were pushed into the background. Unfortunately, cannabis could no longer be used by pharmaceutical companies either, as products involving them could never be patented. Fortunately, when we talk about the twenty-first century, we cannot overlook the fact that it has guaranteed us a breakthrough in cannabis research.

The focus of scientists is primarily on CBD, as we are not only dealing with a particularly important but also active substance in medical cannabis. What's more, we can talk about an extremely wide range of uses, as it has the strongest health properties, even though we already know more than 400 substances that are present in marijuana. CBD also draws attention to itself because it not only mimics the effects of these substances, which are naturally present in our body, but is also an extremely safe ingredient in cannabis.

From a medical point of view, CBD cannabis oil seems to be particularly interesting, as it is not psychoactive and can therefore be used successfully without worrying about possible changes in the patient's consciousness. Both hemp flowers and oils rich in CBD have properties that cannot be ignored. Cancer is the most important factor in this context, but it is also important that they are rich in antioxidants, have an anti-inflammatory effect, have a positive effect on pain, can have an antiemetic, antifungal and antibacterial effect. Medical cannabis is most often referred to in the context of cancer, but it is not the only disease whose effects can be alleviated through it. The situation is no different when we talk about epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, borreliosis, depression, schizophrenia, insomnia and migraine pain.
